Lessons Learned about Embracing Neurodiversity and Finding Life Work Flow

Hey Grown Women, I recently had an amazing chat with Christine Ramsay, who leads DEI at Intercept Pharmaceuticals and is the founder of Ignite Inclusion. It was truly eye-opening to learn about the importance of embracing neurodiversity and learning about life work flow that works for you. As women who strive to lead fulfilling and authentic lives, I truly believe we can all benefit from these nuggets of wisdom.

Lesson 1: Prioritize Life Over Work

Rather than striving for a perfect balance between work and life, prioritize what matters most in your life. Set boundaries that align with your values and schedule time for what’s important. By doing so, you can create healthier work-life flows.

Lesson 2: Embrace Neurodiversity

Create inclusive environments in the workplace that cater to diverse styles and needs. Accommodate disabilities and advocate for equitable treatment and opportunities. Promote allyship programs that foster diverse perspectives and growth.

Lesson 3: Celebrate Differences

Embrace neurodiverse individuals’ strengths by providing opportunities for growth and advancement while fostering an inclusive environment that embraces diverse perspectives.

Lesson 4: Advocate for DEI

Spread awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion through education and training programs. Accommodate diverse needs in the workplace while promoting equitable treatment and opportunities. Advocate for allyship programs to promote a supportive network that fosters growth in diversity.

Lesson 5: Find Moments of Self-Care

Find moments of self-care throughout your day to recharge your batteries. Take breaks when you need them to refocus on what matters most in your life.

Christine Ramsay’s journey as a parent of a child with autism has taught us five valuable lessons on embracing neurodiversity, seeking life work flow, advocating for DEI in the workplace, celebrating differences, and finding moments of self-care.

These lessons can help us create healthier work-life "balance", foster growth in diversity, and lead proud, purposeful, and unapologetic lives.

Until next time, live boldly, showcase your brilliance, and be a badass.
