Hey Grown Women,
One of the core principals of Grown Woman Life is that grown women leverage life’s lessons.
We have experiences positive and negative, that serve to evolve our knowledge, behavior, character, and approach. I believe growth can only happen if you are acknowledging these experiences and trying to capture the lessons in real-time. This is my way of sharing my lessons with you!
The intensity and level of responsibilities I have had over the last 90 days have been next level.
I am sure I am not the only one. Many of us have jobs/careers, partners, family responsibilities, side hustles, community responsibilities, friendships and various other things that are competing for our time, energy, support and brain power.
How do we get it all done? The truth is most of us can’t do it all by ourselves.
We have to ask for help.
Why is it so difficult to ask for help? Do our egos get in the way? Do we think our brands and reputations will be tarnished if we don’t do it all ourselves? Do we think we are an inconvenience to others? Have we not taken the time to recognize who can help us or how they can help? Are we just afraid to ask?
I have taken a crash course in asking for help.
To launch my podcast, I had to ask so many people for help.
Each of my initial podcast guests, graciously gave of their time, to help me. In some cases, these were individuals I had never met or hadn’t spoken to in a very long time.
My husband learned a whole new set of skills so that he could produce my podcast episodes.
My family had to take on additional responsibilities while I sequestered myself to meet deadlines. These are just a few examples. You know what? It didn’t kill me to ask? Everyone was happy to help. My brand hasn’t taken a hit, the world hasn’t fallen apart.
I was reminded that I can’t do it all by myself and it feels great to count on the graciousness of others.
Asking for help doesn’t minimize us in any way. People are happy to help if given the opportunity. Help, isn’t a four letter word.
